Beacon of Light 

Beacon of Light is Sunderland’s most innovative sports and education facility and the first of its kind in the UK. Found next to the Sunderland Aquatic Centre and Stadium of Light, this exciting new venue opened in summer 2018 and is an iconic addition to the north-east skyline.

Working with the Foundation of Light, astley supplied and installed the signage complement to their ground breaking project. The building has five floors and includes sports halls, football pitches, informal learning spaces and education suites including a Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food which is a community programme teaching people how to cook from scratch and the importance of nutrition.

The centre required a practical but design led signage package which incorporated vibrant vinyl brand icons, individual stainless steel lettering and engraved sponsorship stair plaques.

Signage was programmed into phases and the same installation crews were utilised to ensure consistency.
